Dymocks enters eBook pact with Google

Australia’s largest bookseller, Dymocks, is to partner with Google eBooks, adding hundreds of thousands of local and international titles available for purchase at www.dymocks.com.au.

Google eBooks is the biggest online repository of digital books, all of which can be accessed and read on a variety of reading devices including eReaders, tablets, computers, and smartphones.

Dymocks customers will be able to find their Google Bookshelf, which stores their library of eBooks online, directly via www.dymocks.com.au. Once customers have purchased a Google eBook from Dymocks, they can simply access it again anywhere with an internet connection, or download it to read offline. Whenever they reopen their eBook, readers will be able pick up right where they left off.

According to Michael Allara, Dymocks’ GM of eCommerce, the book retailer has seen a steady increase in eBook purchases over the past five years, and believes the new Google eBooks partnership will further enhance the customer book-buying experience for Dymocks customers.

“Dymocks has been in the book retailing business for over 132 years and has led the way in the online space with www.dymocks.com.au in Australia since 1997,” said Allara. “This partnership with Google eBooks is a natural progression for us as we continue to innovate and expand our digital offering.”

Through the book retailer’s Booklover’s Rewards Program, customers will earn points when they buy Google eBooks which can then be redeemed for future purchases from Dymocks – both in store and online.

“We’re offering real, tangible rewards and value to our loyal readers whilst remaining at the forefront of the industry in Australia.

“We’ve also just introduced an eBook Gift Card, making it easier for people to give the gift of an eBook this Christmas. The eBook gift cards will now also enable customers to buy Google eBooks and are available in all stores and on our website,” said Allara.
