Coffee design to go

Horse race, melbourne cupLavazza has created a reusable pavilion for its corporate stand at this year’s Melbourne Cup.

Instead of hiring a marquee for the four day Spring Racing Carnival, the coffee company has designed a 150sqm steel structure that can be dismantled and used again in different configurations at different events.

“What we’re looking at is something that can be flat packed,” said Trent Knox, Lavazza spokesman, told the Australian Financial Review.

“The idea is that it can be cut up into a number of different configurations so we can use it at other events we have through the year, both locally in Melbourne and interstate.”

The wooden parquet floor comes in sections that can be repositioned to form a new pattern and design, and the exterior cladding can be changed.

It is unknown how much the pavillion cost, however, Lavazza says the format will pay for itself over the next two years.
