Centre to host moving catwalk

moving catwalk at BroadwayBroadway Shopping Centre is shaking up the way consumers see fashion, hosting Australia’s first moving catwalk, showcasing new season looks and trends.

Broadway’s familiar crisscross travelators will be used for the lunch time fashion parade on May 27, with models to parade fashions from Broadway retailers including French Connection, Marcs, yd, Sheike, and Nine West.

Sydney stylist Catharine Sarjeant, who has formerly worked on Australia’s Next Top Model, has put together the one off fashion show which kicks off Broadway’s BeYou shopper campaign.

Inside Shopper spoke to Broadway centre manager, Justine Saltmarsh, who said the idea came from the 2013 Spring/Summer Louis Vuitton fashion show.

“We wanted to utilise the uniqueness of Broadway in our travelators crisscrossing throughout the centre to create a visual spectacular,” she said.

The marketing stunt will be followed up in the centre with a photographic style studio, BeYou Booth, where shoppers will be able to try on a selection of the fashions they have seen in the show and take home a photo of themselves, or share that visual online.

“Our BeYou positioning at Broadway is all about trying to come up with new and interesting ideas to encourage our customers to be themselves, to be inspiring, happier, outlandish, unique,” said Saltmarsh.

The BeYou Booth will run from June 2 to 15, and will be incentivised with a competition to allow customers who spend $30 or more in the centre on fashion, hair, or beauty to go into a draw to win one of three $2000 shopping sprees

“It’s going to enable us to showcase the hottest trends in a unique and different way for Broadway,” said Saltmarsh.
