Aussie payment co spreads its wings

Online payment provider, eWAY, will now be available to UK retailers.

To support its move into this market, eWAY has hired Australian-born Nick Adams as business development director to oversee its operations in the UK. Adams has more than ten years’ experience in the e-commerce industry across Australia, the UK and Europe.

According to Adams, the UK market is considerably more mature than Australia at present, however the existing UK payment gateway providers tend to only offer a heavily commoditised service that does not deliver on service or reliable up-time.

By offering the full eWAY payment service, as well as the online revenue management tools to UK customers, eWAY has the opportunity to differentiate itself in comparison to the existing payment gateways on offer, by providing a depth and breadth of services not currently available in the UK market.

“We are taking a successful Australian business model and emulating it in a far bigger market – first in the UK and then Europe,” said Adams.

“The process of setting up payment services online in the UK is extremely baffling for most SME customers. By comparison, eWAY is very service focused, and the company takes care of the hassles, such as following up banks, merchant facilities and reducing the web development time. Because of this we expect to become the developers’ payment gateway of choice, by offering unrivalled support to web developers and eCommerce businesses alike.”

According to Adams, eWAY’s 360 degree approach to e-commerce solutions has the potential to shake up the UK market.

“The quality of service will be an added market driver and because we have office locations in both countries, we will be the only payment provider in the world that is able to offer our customers 24-hour human support via email, phone and live chat,” commented Adams. “This means that customers can launch their online stores at any time of the day.”

Matt Bullock, eWAY CEO, says that Adams’ extensive experience across the UK e-commerce landscape will provide a strong platform for the company to launch into this competitive market.

“Nick’s experience and understanding of the UK market will allow eWAY to grow, both in terms of new clients as well as the eWAY team, as well as tailoring our industry leading service to the UK market,” he said.

“With Nick on board, I have every confidence that we can become a real player in the region just as we have in Australia. Our commitment to the SMEs space with competitive pricing and customer service will shake up the current players in the market.”

According to Bullock, eWAY’s payment gateway service already receives a lot of interest from the UK.

“Our Google ranking is excellent and we already receive a lot of traffic and inquiries from the UK, I have no doubt that we will see rapid growth in a short period of time,” said Bullock.

eWay was established in 1998 by Matt Bullock, and now has 8000 customers, with a further 250 added each month.
