Tennis shoe designer Volley and Australian athleisure brand The Upside have joined up to create limited-edition kicks.

The brands say the shoes are vegan, have a lightweight cotton canvas upper, a reinforced toe cap for stability, and a gum sole with a herringbone pattern for traction and grip. The shoe’s design features the three-stripe detail on the Volley heel tape and the “Volley Up” logo.

“Tennis has a timeless appeal that definitely lends itself to reinterpretation, however, there’s a sense that with a new, emerging rollcall of young, exciting and highly watchable tennis players, that tennis is exciting again and attracting an entirely new audience, bringing tennis into the lifestyle-centric-wear realm rather than just performance wear,” said Volley’s content & marketing manager, Anna Geason.

The Upside has also launched a tennis capsule.

The Upside capsule aspires to inspire a zone where tennis fashion meets function, aiming to help the wearer transfer or design their outfit to post-play activities, showcasing individual style.

The collection includes moisture-wicking cotton pique performance pieces, four-way stretch peached fabrics in high-waisted skorts and dresses with pleats

The Upside x Volley shoes are exclusively available on the Upside and Volley websites, as well as Stylerunner. The collaboration is also on show at Volley’s Australian Open stand.

Earlier this year, Australian workwear brand Hard Hakka partnered with Byron Bay streetwear label to launch a second collection, which is made from organic cotton.
