Video rental demand goes digital

videoezyVideo Ezy has launched its own online video on demand rental platform, VideoEzyOnDemand, New Zealand’s first rental group to do so.

The move offers further value to the company’s 90 franchised stores throughout NZ, said Russell Clark, Video Ezy International (NZ) joint MD.

“This is an exciting new phase for our business,” adds Clark.

“By introducing Video On Demand we are giving Video Ezy franchisees the opportunity to embrace future technology with a model that blends the best of bricks and mortar and digital channels.”

With more than 20 years of experience, Clarke said Video Ezy and its franchisees have a distinct advantage over their competitors in the online field.

“We have extremely strong backing from all New Zealand based DVD/movie distributors who have expressed great excitement, and pledged support, at the prospect of VideoEzyOnDemand entering the New Zealand online market.”

VideoEzyOnDemand also offers an alternative to illegal downloading, which affects NZ jobs and the economy, said Clark.

John Davie, Roadshow Entertainment NZ GM, said that by adapting to the changing environment, Video Ezy is gaining considerable benefit to its brand presence in NZ.

VideoEzyOnDemand offers access to thousands of movies via an app exclusively available on Samsung Smart TVs through the Smart Hub. Content can also be streamed on any connected device, including PC, Mac, tablet and smartphone, on any operating system. There are no monthly fees, and customers pay only for the content they view.

Chromecast, soon to arrive in NZ, Screen Sharing, and other TVs and gaming consoles may be further options available to customers in the future.
