Uniqlo arrives

Uniqlo smallJapanese fast fashion retailer, Uniqlo, has opened the doors to its first Australian store at Melbourne’s Emporium, with more than 20,000 customers passing through on its first day of trade.

The 2180sqm premium store is spread across four floors, and stocks the brand’s full range of men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel.

“We are excited to be opening the doors to our first Australian store. It feels fitting for the store to be housed in Emporium, the CBD’s newest retail precinct, and at the heart of Melbourne – Australia’s fashion capital,” Tadashi Yanai, Chairman and CEO of UNIQLO parent company Fast Retailing, said.

“We have been honoured with the response to the launch so far and look forward to welcoming many more Melbournians instore in the coming months.”

In conjunction with the store opening, Uniqlo Australia’s e-commerce platform went live this morning on the official Uniqlo Australia website, www.uniqlo.com/au/.

Consumers will now be able to purchase apparel online, with garments to be packed and shipped locally to customers across Australia.

The launch of Uniqlo’s first store in Australia continues the brand’s active growth strategy in the Asia Pacific region, with the retailer today also announcing their expansion into the Sydney market later this year.
