Eco lifestyle brand Future Fur has launched a range of plush throws made entirely from recycled plastic bottles.
Co-founded by Ena Pelly’s Tim Wilkins and Dani Pelly alongside podcaster Ellidy Pullin, the brand marks the trio’s first venture outside fashion and aims to offer a sustainable alternative to conventional materials.
“When we first developed recycled faux fur in 2020, it was a risk,” said Pelly.
“It’s taken years of proving that considered materials can be beautiful, and we’re continuing that journey with Ellidy, who shares our mindset for quality and intentional design.”
Designed in Geelong, each piece is sewn, brushed and packed by hand, featuring double-sided rabbit and sherpa-style faux fur that is soft, durable and machine washable.
The company said the material was developed for versatility and can be used across products including play mats, dog beds, nappy mats and bedding.
Wilkins said the range builds on years of material development.
“Our supplier has spent decades perfecting the structure of the fur, and we’ve spent more than two years developing this product, trialling it in our own homes with our kids and dogs,” he said.
According to Future Fur, the business is expected to divert more than 1.2 million plastic bottles from landfill within its first three years of operation, with each throw repurposing more than 60 bottles.
It will also donate 5 per cent of profits from each throw to One Village Plastic Free to support plastic waste reduction efforts in Bali.
“We wanted to make something that feels good in every sense and does good too,” added Pelly. “It’s proof that sustainability and style can exist side by side,” she said.
Future Fur throws are available online in three sizes and six colours: brown, dark brown, natural, pink, green and white.
