Dymocks trialling concept

Dymocks pop up WestfieldDymocks is trialling a multichannel pop up bookstore concept in Sydney over the busy Christmas period.

The 25sqm bookshop opened at Westfield Eastgardens on Monday and stocks almost 1000 books.

The pop up is designed to be assembled, removed, and relocated, so it can be taken to other locations pending a successful trial.

Dymocks is trialling an online ordering system at the store’s point of sale, which links customers to its one million titles.

Steve Cox, MD of Dymocks, says the concept is “one more part of our multichannel strategy [of] reaching customers wherever they may live”.

“As a major shopping centre in Sydney which does not have a full range bookstore, we saw Westfield Eastgardens as the perfect location to trial this innovative concept,” he says.

“We will be evaluating the results and refining the model further, adapting the lessons learnt to all parts of our business.”

Dymock’s concept will be open for four months until February.
