Construction work has commenced on the new Pacific Epping Costco in conjunction with Pacific Epping Shopping Centre.
The $40 million investment, set to open mid-2018, is the fourth Victorian site chosen by Costco in nine years, with a 13,788sqm store set to service a catchment of one million people. It will be the second Costco in Victoria with a fuel station.
Patrick Noone, Costco Australia managing director; Frank McGuire, Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Innovation and Parliamentary Secretary for Medical Research with chief operating officer at Pacific Epping, Daniel Radle, hosted the official groundbreaking earlier this week.
According to the retailer, the event not only marked the building start of Victoria’s newest Costco, but also celebrated the opening of a new adjoining road at Deveny Rd from Edgars road, dedicated to easing congestion on Cooper street for residents of the North West.
“Costco is very excited to open its fourth warehouse in Victoria and to be a part of this community,” Noone said. “We feel it is the perfect location for us, offering convenience for our rapidly expanding membership in this area. We look forward to being an integral part of the growth in Melbourne’s North.”
Last month, in a move to ramp up its online offer, Costco launched a new wholesale delivery service that will provide bulk delivery to metropolitan Melbourne from the company’s Docklands Warehouse.
The service has a minimum order of $1000 and delivers within a 10-kilometre radius of the Docklands location, offering everything from meat and seafood to office supplies.
