The Australian dollar has risen against its US counterpart and is buying 71.13 US cents, up from 70.70 US cents at Thursday’s close.

One Australian dollar buys 79.69 Japanese yen, from 79.25 ; 61.39 euro cents, from 61.17 ; 53.78 British pence, from 53.47 and 109.02 NZ cents, from 109.22.
