LivingSocial specialises in offering deals on products, travel offers, and local experiences to its network of more than one million active regional subscribers.

The acquisition will increase AussieCommerce’s reach to more than 8 million members in Australia and New Zealand.

AussieCommerce has fifteen brands under its umbrella and around 400 staff worldwide, with a forecasted turnover of more than $200 million for FY15.

Key brands include travel website Luxury Escapes, homewares retailer The Home, fashion site Brands Exclusive, sportswear retailer The Active, and deals site, Cudo.

In 2011, LivingSocial acquired Australian website, JumpOnIt to enter the Australian market. The Australian business is based in North Sydney and has around 95 employees.

The news comes days after AussieCommerce Group announced it had acquired the Australian arm of product sample distribution website, PINCHme.

AussieCommerce was named the fastest growing company in Australia by BRW in 2013 and was listed in BRW’s Fast 100, SmartCompany’s Smart 50 and Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 in 2014.

Adam Schwab, CEO and co-founder of AussieCommerce Group, said the acquisition provides valuable scale while also giving access to thousands of new merchant and supplier relationships.

“LivingSocial has built a fantastic business here with a very engaged membership. We look forward to working with their extremely talented team to improve our offering and build further value for our customers,” Schwab said.
