7-Eleven names deputy chair

 

7-Eleven-11 copyMichael Smith has been appointed as deputy chairman of 7-Eleven Stores.

Smith has been a director of the convenience store chain since 1999.

In addition to his responsibilities as deputy chairman, Smith will retain his responsibilities as chairman of the strategy committee, and a memberof the Audit and Risk Committees.

“Michael’s strategic abilities, extensive marketing expertise, and leadership experience are incredibly valuable to our business,” Russ Withers, chairman of 7-Eleven, said

“Whilst 7-Eleven Stores is a private company, we run to public company standards. Michael, and our other independent directors, bring to the board outstanding experience, a clear focus, and enhanced governance abilities.”

“Our business has huge potential for continued growth and ongoing success. Michael, in his new role as deputy chairman, the other members of our board and I, are focused on ensuring the performance of 7-Eleven Australia continues to exceed expectations,” he said.

Smith is the MD of Perth-based strategy consultancy Black House. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the national chairman.

He also chairs  iiNet Limited, Pioneer Credit, and the Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group and is the deputy chair of Automotive Holdings Group Limited.
