Pureplay fashion retailer The Iconic has committed to refund customers after fraudulent orders were made on their accounts.
The online merchant said that it saw an increase in fraudulent login attempts on its site but denied any data breach, or ‘hack’.
“We have recently seen an increase in fraudulent account login attempts on The Iconic, which our security and fraud teams continue to actively manage, in conjunction with our security partners,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “We are working with all customers to address these incidents, which are not a result of a data breach at The Iconic.
“Our teams are also proactively intercepting unauthorised access attempts and cancelling any fraudulent orders made, in addition to providing customers with full refunds for any successful orders made that have been dispatched.”
The Iconic has faced backlash on Facebook from customers who claim they have lost money from their accounts after unauthorised orders were placed on the e-commerce site.
“Mine was hacked and I also can’t access my account anymore,” said one customer in a post. “Tried resetting the password but I’m not even getting the email. $1348 spent on Christmas Day, very distressing.”
“Mine was hacked also! $550 spent on my credit!,” according to another.
The Iconic urged customers to be vigilant in managing their accounts and ensure changing their passwords regularly for security purposes.
