Eastern Creek Quarter unveils ‘outlet’ retail concept

A large-scale, innovative ‘outlet’ retail concept for about 100 brands has been approved for Eastern Creek Quarter (ECQ), close to Western Sydney Parklands.

Retail tenants must either discount a minimum of 70 per cent of their stock from its ordinary retail price or recommended retail price; or merchandise stock specifically manufactured for sale only in outlet stores.

Stores will need to display highly visible signage showing the tenancy is a discount outlet.

The outlet area, about 29,000sqm, will include complementary food and beverage offers and entertainment, as well as more than 1000 car spaces, and family amenities.

The food and beverage area will be integrated with the ECQ Social precinct, with its covered and alfresco seating, outdoor deck, kids play area and large format outdoor digital screen.

The masterplan consent from the Department paves the way for Frasers Property to complete ECQ, situated at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and the M7 Motorway.

ECQ XL, which launched in 2022, is the centre’s second stage and Western Sydney’s newest large format retail and showroom precinct. It houses a diverse mix of brands including Anaconda, McDonalds, Officeworks, Carpet Call, 4WD Supa Centre, PetQuarters, Totally Workwear, Road Tech Marine, Weber, RSEA Safety, T-Spoon Cafe, Nutrition Warehouse, Neptune Swim School and KFC.

Eastern Creek Quarter outlet precinct aims for zero carbon operations Woolworths anchored the first stage of the shopping centre.

Tim Moore, retail leasing director, Frasers Property Australia, said “There’s a distinct undersupply of outlet retail in New South Wales and Western Sydney in particular, which means the new precinct will serve an enlarged catchment of some 1.2 million people while still celebrating the deep local community connections which underpin ECQ’s success.”

ECQ Shopping Centre will target a minimum 5 Star Green Star rating for ECQ Outlet. Initiatives include energy and water efficiency measures, innovative waste management procedures and use of rooftop solar to achieve net zero carbon during operation.
