Carpet brand Bremworth opens first retail store, plans trans-Tasman network

Wool carpet manufacturer Bremworth is set to establish a physical retail store in Auckland to increase its share of the domestic and export rug markets.

The 99sqm store in Parnell’s Residium aims to assist consumers in buying floor coverings which match the size of their furniture.

The company plans to expand the prototype brand experience and retail concept store throughout New Zealand and potentially into Australia.

According to Greg Smith, CEO of Bremworth, the local rug market is severely fragmented, and the company’s research suggests that more than half of rug transactions in New Zealand are conducted offline.

The store’s opening is intended to support the brand in diversifying into this area of the market and solving the complexities that can be associated with the category.

“The new concept store in Parnell is designed to offer our consumers and interior designers an immersive retail environment where they can get inspired, learn about and interact with the brand,” he said.

Smith added that the company sold over $1.1 million in rugs through their online store last year, a 45 per cent increase over the previous year.
