Not-for-profit fashion charity Thread Together is set to open its first clothing beneficiary centre in Melbourne on June 29.
The hub is opened in partnership with Northern Community CareWorks and will help vulnerable people with clothing at no cost.
The charity had a long-term objective of securing a permanent clothing hub after supplying clothing across Melbourne and regional Victoria through a Mobile Wardrobe van service.
“As the cost of living rises, more Australians are finding themselves becoming dependent on charitable donations during these uncertain economic times, this includes the basic human right of food and shelter and the often forgotten basic human right of clothing,” said Anthony Chesler, CEO of Thread Together.
Last year, the organisation received 1.4 million units of clothing, shoes and accessories and redistributed 1.2 million units.
The new store will be located at 81 High Street, Preston, Victoria.
