L’Occitane beauty brand Sol de Janeiro is expanding in Asia Pacific travel retail channels through a partnership with Heinemann Australia, starting with an installation at Sydney Airport’s international departures area.

Sol de Janeiro, meaning “Sun of January” in Portuguese, was founded by Heela Yang, inspired by her time in Brazil. She was impressed by how Brazilian women celebrated diversity, and this admiration led to the creation of the brand, embodying a body-positive philosophy with the motto “Love it. Flaunt it. You’ve Got it.”

The range includes body care, hair care, and fragrances, infused with Brazilian native fruits and plant butter. All products are vegan-friendly, sulphate-free, and cruelty-free. Two of the brand’s most popular products are Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and the Cheirosa 62 fragrance.

Estelle de Bure, MD for global travel retail, L’Occitane, said the launch was timed to resonate with travellers over the summer.

“With its sandy beaches and dynamic energy evoking Rio de Janeiro, Sydney provides the perfect backdrop for this colourful animation.”

The Sydney Airport installation displays the brand’s strong yellow, orange and turquoise colour scheme and includes an interactive photo booth. Digital photos can be downloaded to personal devices via a QR code.
