Scentre Group unveiled a $21 million redevelopment of its Westfield Woden shopping centre due in early 2019, which will focus on the introduction of a new dining precinct.
The dining precinct will offer centre-goers a mix of local and ‘crowd favourite’ food retailers and is set to trade late into the evening.
“We recognise there’s significant demand for an elevated dining experience within the Woden area,” Scentre Group ACT regional manager of centre experience Malcolm Creswell said.
“Our vision is to make Westfield Woden a vibrant dining destination; a place to gather, relax and enjoy with family, friends and colleagues during the day and into the evening.”
The centre’s food court and amenities are set to be upgraded later in the year, with indoor planting, ambient lighting, phone and power recharge stations as well as a variety of seating options to cater to all customers.
The redevelopment is but one of several for the property group, with Westfield Kotara, Coomera and Tea Tree Plaza all set to be completed in the following months, while Scentre recently noted it continues to work on pre-development opportunities through a development plan valued at over $3 billion.
“[Scentre] have continued to bring our purpose to life by creating extraordinary places, connecting and enriching communities and providing the best locations for retailers to connect with customers,” Scentre Group chief executive Peter Allen said.
At the group’s announcement of it’s half-yearly results, Allen highlighted the redevelopment of Westfield Newmarket in New Zealand, which will feature the first David Jones in Auckland and the newest format stores for Farmers and Countdown, as well as a rooftop lifestyle, dining and entertainment precinct.
