Sydney shopping centre wins APAC award

EastVillageProperty firm, Payce, has won gold in this year’s ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards in the category of New Developments, for its shopping centre in East Village Victoria Park in Sydney.

Situated in Victoria Park at the heart of Zetland, East Village took out the prize under the section Design and Development Excellence at the awards ceremony in Shangri-La at Fort in Manila earlier this week.

The annual awards recognise the best retail developments in the Asia-Pacific region for marketing, design and development excellence.

The judging panel includes industry professionals from across the globe.

East Village was the only finalist from Australia nominated in the “New Developments” category. The judges commended East Village for its innovative features such as exterior and interior architectural design, sustainable initiatives, high performance building envelopes, paperless parking system, as well as extensive recycling and reuse of water.

“This award recognises a development which meets the future living needs of people on the edge of a major CBD,”said Brian Boyd, MD, Payce.

“It is also shows what innovative architecture and design can deliver. The award has encouraged us to continue rolling out more innovative, marketplace environments for shoppers and people who want to live close to all facilities.”

Founded in 1957, ICSC embarked upon the Asia Pacific Awards nine years ago. The awards recognise industry practitioners for their outstanding achievements in the design, development and marketing of retail properties in terms of vision, innovation and creativity.
