Supermarket damaged in ram raid

glassA ram raid has left a Victorian supermarket with considerable damage.

Police say two men reversed a stolen ute through the front doors of the supermarket at Longwarry, southeast of Melbourne, about 4.30am (AEDT) on Tuesday.

One man stole a small quantity of alcohol before another man tried to raid a cigarette cabinet, but stopped when he was disturbed by two witnesses, police say.

The pair then got back into the ute and drove off.

The front of the supermarket was considerably damaged in the raid, police say.

The ute used is believed to be a 2010 Holden VE with the registration XTW806 and a distinctive Pontiac front end.
