Shopping holiday urges Aussies to buy Australian

Thursday October 1 could very well be the beginning of a new local shopping holiday, with Australians nationwide being urged to shop Australian made.

The first National Buy Aussie Day is being used as a “call to arms” for shoppers to support Aussie small businesses that have been impacted by drought, bushfires, floods, and now a pandemic.

Founder Chris White said he is hopeful Aussies will do their part, whether its $2 or $2000.

“In the way that Singles Day in China and Black Friday in the United States have become landmark shopping days, we hope October 1 will forever be our National Shopping Day,” White said.

“I think we all want to look for ways to support each other right now and this is a simple way people can make a difference.”

The event has been spearheaded by the team behind Australian goods marketplace Buy Aussie Now, and is being supported by Olympic gold medalists Grant Hackett, Kerri Pottharst and Natalie Cook.
