Perth holiday trade extended

OpenPerth retailers have been granted permission to open their doors for a full day’s trade on both Easter Monday and the substituted Anzac Day public holiday by the State Government.

Due to ANZAC Day this year falling on a Saturday, the public holiday has been gazetted for two days later.

Trevor Evans, National Retailers Association (NRA) CEO, Trevor Evans, said the Attorney General and Minister for Commerce Michael Mischin’s decision to give retailers the option of opening between 8.00am and 6.00pm on both Monday April 6 and Monday April 17 would allow them to better service their customers.

“This decision is keeping in step with the changing needs of the industry. Consumers are demanding more flexible trading hours particularly surrounding public holidays, but retailers are often unable to provide that level of service due to restrictions,” Evans said.

“Giving retailers additional flexibility to choose how and when they service their customers is always a welcome boost to retail sector,” he said.
