Paypal launches fingerprint payment

pinPayPal Australia and Samsung Electronics Australia have announced the local availability of the new PayPal fingerprint authentication on the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The new collaboration allows Samsung Galaxy S5 users to be able to login and shop at any merchant that accepts PayPal on mobile and instores with only their fingerprint.

Announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress, the new biometric feature means Galaxy S5 users will no longer need to remember passwords or login details across millions of PayPal merchants.

“We are proud to be the first payments company to support Samsung’s mobile fingerprint authentication technology,” said Jeff Clementz, MD, PayPal Australia.

“Our partnership leverages the fingerprint authentication technology on their new Galaxy S5 to reduce friction in payments, allowing users to easily access their digital wallet with a simple swipe of their finger,” Clementz said.
