With Australia entering its first recession in decades due to the unprecedented economic impact of the Covid-19 virus, discount department store The Reject Shop has enacted a ‘lowest price guarantee in order to better serve financially struggling Aussies.

According to The Reject Shop, on the occasion that another Australian retailer has a better price on a product, it will beat the price by 10 per cent.

Chief executive officer Dani Aquilina explained that the business is able to do this due to the way it purchases its products.

“What we do specifically that’s different is we make sure to find the best-selling products and we buy them in big volumes to get the best prices,” Aquilina said.

“Then, we pass those savings on to our customers.”

The offer will be available at all 350 The Reject Shop stores nationwide, though cannot be declared on online only sales.

The news could be welcome to many Australians, with cuts to JobKeeper coming into effect today reducing the amount paid to recipients by at least $300 a fortnight, and up to $750.
