Queensland-based discount chain Silly Solly’s is primed to launch its first three stores in New South Wales, and one in Victoria, in March.
The stores will be located in Prospect, Bathurst and Lismore in New South Wales, and Shepparton in Victoria.
And, the business plans to launch between 10 and 20 stores across the country by the end of the year, and aims to hit 100 stores nationally in the next few years.
“Our culture is we focus on customers,” the business said.
“Most of our customers survive week to week on a budget and rely on us. The nothing over $5 pricing model is attractive to shoppers.”
The business originally planned to launch its first southern-state stores in 2019, but the move needed to be delayed.
The key to Silly Solly’s success, founder Solly Stanton told Inside Retail at the time, is its “nothing over $5” pricing model, which is attractive to customers already struggling with the increasing cost of living in Australia.
And, with the economic impact of Covid-19 still underway, and federal financial support nearing its end, cheap alternatives to traditional shopping could be very welcome to a lot of Australians.
“We aim to disrupt by offering quality goods at the lowest prices. A lot of people sell cheap stuff, but we sell good stuff cheap.”
