Long serving Shopping Centre Council of Australia (SCCA) executive director, Milton Cockburn, will stand down from his role, effective July 1.
Cockburn will take on the new role of adviser with the SCCA, primarily responsible for driving new business initiatives.
SCCA deputy director, Angus Nardi, will succeed Cockburn as executive director, and will have overall responsibility for the running of the SCCA, directly responsible to the SCCA chairman and the SCCA board of directors.
Nardi has been SCCA deputy director for more than four years and, prior to this, spent three years with the Property Council NSW, as policy manager and deputy director.
Steven Sewell, chairman of the SCCA and CEO of Federation Centres, said Cockburn volunteered to take on the new role, which requires a person with a strong industry and corporate background to execute properly.
“After 13 years as executive director, Milton is looking forward to these new challenges which are designed to take the SCCA to a new level in servicing the interests of its members,” said Sewell.
“Milton will, however, still have specific responsibility for a number of advocacy activities and will continue to assist with other advocacy issues as the need arises. The new role will allow him to get these new business initiatives up and running without the distraction of responsibility for the day to day running of the SCCA.”
As part of the changes, the SCCA will also look to appoint a senior policy adviser to support Nardi in the expanded policy and advocacy agenda that the SCCA is now undertaking.
