New boss for Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch’s merchandise and brand director Di Humphries will be the children’s clothing retailer’s new CEO.Resource-3

Humphries, the former boss of the Glassons clothing chain, will step into the role immediately, chairwoman Jane Freeman says.

She replaces Neil Cowie who resigned late last month to lead Mitre 10.

Freeman said the new CEO  had made a “huge impact” since joining the company from Hallenstein Glassons last year.

“Di has been instrumental in the development of the product-related strategies that are so important to the future of the business,” she said.

Ms Humphries said she would remain involved in product and brand development.

“My immediate focus will remain on product design, branding, and the supply chain, which are key to delivering kids and parents around the world the brand experience they expect of Pumpkin Patch,” she said.

In July, Pumpkin Patch said full-year profit may drop as much as 35 per cent in the face of intense competition in Australia.

Profit after tax, excluding reorganisation costs, is expected to be $NZ7.5 million ($A6.59 million) to $NZ9 million in the 12 months ending July 31, down from $NZ10.1 million a year earlier, as rivals embarked on earlier end-of-season sales

Changes to wholesalers’ delivery schedules would also hurt trading activity, it said.
