Australian group buying sites, Cudo and Spreets, have released the framework for a voluntary Code of Conduct for the Australian group buying industry. The Code has been welcomed by industry analyst, Telsyte, and lays the foundations for revolutionising the burgeoning category. Central to the Code is a draft list of ethical and best practice commitments to merchants and members that participating sites should adhere to. Cudo and Spreets are inviting the industry to contribute to the content of th
of the Code, with the aim being for a final Code to be agreed in the coming months.
Cudo CEO, Billy Tucker, said that as industry leaders, Cudo and Spreets, recognised the importance of putting merchants and members first.
“We want to ensure the group buying experience continues to be strategically sound for merchants, and enjoyable and worthwhile for members.
“As the category grows, the introduction of this voluntary Code of conduct provides a framework from which to implement some of the fundamentals of good group buying and promote best practice. We’re welcoming our industry counterparts to join us in developing and adopting this voluntary Code of Conduct,” said Tucker.
Spreets CEO and cofounder, Dean McEvoy, said that success in group buying industry is measured by the experiences of our merchants and members.
“We believe we have a responsibility to provide merchants and members a level of confidence around their group buying experience. The Code of Conduct will help deliver this and we call on the rest of the group buying industry in Australia to join us in developing and adopting the Code,” McEvoy said.
