Underwear brand Modibodi has collaborated with UK-based illustrator Justyna Green to relaunch the First Period Kit for teens.

The kit includes a waterproof bag, two pairs of washable and reusable Black Hipster Bikinis, a handheld mirror, and a comic and sticker kit designed by Green.

Modibodi claims that the bikinis are designed for moderate to heavy periods, with absorbency of up to 15ml, equivalent to two to three tampons or three teaspoons.

According to Green, the kit aims to better educate teens about their bodies and remove the shamefulness associated with periods.

“It’s important to break the taboo around female anatomy so that people with vulvas, vaginas, clitorises, uteruses, labias majoras and minoras can confidently describe their body parts, understand them better and in turn communicate their needs better too,” Green told Dezeen.

“And for everybody regardless of their sex, to be able to say ‘vulva’ without looking away or blushing.”

Modibodi first launched the First Period Kit in 2021.
