Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has commenced construction of an office and warehouse space for the Australian franchisor, BSR Group.

The company – which services more than 220 retailers under the banners Betta Home Living, Furniture Zone, and RT Edwards – will occupy a consolidated 5600sqm warehouse and office headquarters at the airport’s Da Vinci educational and industrial precinct.

The site includes 118 car parks, associated hardstands and a solar-energy generation facility.

BSR Group MD and CEO, Graeme Cunningham, said Brisbane Airport was a “strategic choice” for the group.

“The size of the new development will allow us to create efficiencies across our business, not only by having one property but also giving us oversight of our supply chain.

“With our retailers’ sales growing year on year, the scale of the Brisbane Airport industrial precinct also provides us with the opportunity to expand in the future.”

Martin Ryan, BAC executive GM commercial, said the Da Vinci precinct was “developing rapidly” due to strong demand for premium development sites.

“It is a hive of activity at Brisbane Airport, with leading Australian and global companies choosing to base their operations here due to the excellent onsite amenity, unparalleled connectivity, and transport links.”

The retailer will join existing tenants such as DHL, the Virgin Australia Training Centre, Qantas Flight Training Centre, Aviation Australia and Mitsubishi.

The new developments are expected to be completed early this year.
