Changing of the guard at TerryWhite TerryWhite Chemmart has promoted chief operating officer Duncan Phillips to chief executive officer, following Anthony White’s decision to step down after 11 years at the helm. Phillips has held the COO position for almost three years, and was previously executive director of Chemmart, now part of the TerryWhite brand. Before getting into pharmacy retail, he was with Coles Group for more than five years in senior positions. He also holds a masters degree fro
degree from Cambridge University in theology and philosophy.
White is credited with leading the pharmacy chain through a dramatic period of change and growth, including the 2016 merger between Terry White and Chemmart, and then the network rebrand and sale to EBOS Group last December.
TWC is the largest pharmacy group in Australia with a network of more than 500 stores, more than 5000 employees and turnover of more than $2 billion a year.
Greenlit poaches Harvey Norman ‘star’
Greenlit Brands has announced the appointment of Blaine Callard as CEO of one of its flagship household goods businesses, Freedom, effective August 19.
Callard brings more than 20 years’ experience to the role, most recently as CEO of Harvey Norman Ireland for the past eight years. In this role, Greenlit says, he turned around the loss-making company, strengthened its gross operating margins and revitalised the Harvey Norman brand in that country.
Callard had been perceived as one of the rising stars of the Harvey Norman organisation, with The Australian Financial Review reporting that he had been expected to return to Sydney to take over a strategic role at head office.
BCF finds new managing director
Super Retail Group has appointed Paul Bradshaw as managing director of its outdoor business BCF, replacing Ethan Orsini, who has occupied the role in an interim capacity since February. Bradshaw will start on November 25 and will sit on the company’s executive leadership team.
Bradshaw joins SRG from the supermarket chain Coles Group, where he has worked for the past nine years in several executive leadership positions, including chief store operations officer and group general manager, store development. He previously held senior management positions at Asda, the UK’s second-largest supermarket retailer.
BCF has more than 130 stores across Australia, selling a broad range of boating, camping and fishing brands. Bradshaw will be based in Brisbane.
Red Rooster in search of brand manager
Fast-food chicken restaurant Red Rooster is seeking a national brand manager. The company says the position will have a strong focus on brand and retail strategy, new product development, creative development and execution of the full marketing mix including TV, radio, digital, OOH and in-store marketing.
Red Rooster is owned by Craveable Brands, which also owns Oporto and Chicken Treat. It has 360 restaurants run by 190 franchisees and employs 8500 frontline staff in suburban, regional and rural Australia. The chain says it has growth plans for this year and beyond which will see Red Roosters open in more metro areas.
Vicinity seeks to replace ‘culture’ officer
An international search is now under way for a new executive leader to head the people and culture function for Vicinity Centres, as its current chief people and transformation officer, Simone Carroll, will be leaving the company by the end of 2019.
Vicinity has the “foundations of the new culture in place”, said managing director Grant Kelley, with “a new leadership team including chief operating officer Peter Huddle and new chief financial officer Nick Schiffer, who will begin in September.”
