2015 will be a “year of new” for UK-based beauty brand, Lush, with the brand to open Australia’s first Lush Spa and launch a dedicated men’s range. Lush has 25 stores in Australia and 10 stores in New Zealand. Its local online store makes up around 10 per cent of total sales. Two new Lush stores will open by the end of the year in Mt Gravatt, Queensland and Joondalup in Western Australia. A third is scheduled for early 2015. Next year it will open the first Lush Spa stor
ore in Australia, understood to be located in Sydney, joining only a handful of spa stores that operate in the UK, US, Japan, and France.
Peta Granger, director of Lush Australasia, says the Lush Spa is expected to be trading by mid-2015.
The spa format operates on a larger footprint of around 100sqm and stocks Lush’s existing ranges, including soaps, fragrance, bath bombs, skincare, and healthcare, as well as specialty spa products, and spa therapies. Granger told Inside Retail PREMIUM that longer term, the organic beauty giant plans to open Lush Spas in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, and up to 50 standalone stores.
“Lush Spas are a really different business. Lush Spas have specialty products that are only used in the spas and we also create the music for each treatment so it works in harmony with the massage techniques,” she said.
Lush Spa staff are specialised massage and beauty therapists and will undergo three months training in the UK.
In another first for Lush’s Australian arm, a dedicated men’s skincare range will launch next year, including a beard wash and moustache wax.
“It’s a bit of a year of new next year. We have a huge stream of new products launching, with one of them a men’s range. Lush products usually cater more to skin type, but this new range is really one of the first times we’re targeting men’s skincare.”
