Kikki K has opened a new flagship at Melbourne’s Emporium, with a new concept that pays homage to the brand’s Swedish heritage. A retailer of stationery and workspace essentials, Kikki K ranges include leather business bags, homewares, and online digital keepsakes, and has also collaborated on designs for premium tea and chocolate with T2 and Koko Black. Swedish designer, Anna Carin, worked with Kikki K’s inhouse design team on the new store concept, which was inspired by
Swedish barn architecture.
Design elements such as exposed ceiling beams, a bicycle wheel trolley, raw timber panelling, and herringbone wall cladding give the store a sophisticated, yet raw look.
Real silver birch trees frame the entry, standing more than six feet tall, and a clean palate of white décor amplifies the product offerings.
A long wooden table and stools provid ea place for the store to host workshops, containing a set of customised iPads for customes to browse brand content and shop online.
Kristina Karlsson, Kikki K, founder and creative director, says the Emporium store is a “beautiful reflection of our Swedish heritage”.
“It’s given us the opportunity to give our customers a completely new Kikki K experience.
“We’ve introduced technology to the store fitout; roaming and fixed iPads, and an iMac can now be used by our team to walk customers through our digital keepsake service,” she said.
Karlsson says the new concept will not be rolled out across all Kikki K stores.
“We like to treat all of our store locations differently. We know that no two countries, states, or shopping centres are the same, so we will take each new store location as it comes and apply this rationale to the storefit and features design process.
“Right now, we’re just so excited to see how people take to our gorgeous new store in Emporium,” she said.
