T.M. Lewin’s Melbourne Emporium store has been recognised as winner of The Australian Shop and Office Fitting Industry Association (ASOFIA) 2014/15 Australian Fit Out Awards. The fitout and build was done by the team at Broden Project Solutions who was given the brief to create a store which reflected the heritage and brand values of T.M. Lewin. T.M. Lewin is a British menswear retailer, founded in 1898 when Thomas Mayes Lewin opened his first store in London. Today, T.M. Lewin has around 75 s
stores in the UK and Ireland. It also operates 24 stores in Australia, including Myer concessions, as well as stores in Singapore, and South Africa.
Keith Lydon, founder of Broden, told Inside Retail PREMIUM the brief was achieved through sourcing local materials which reflect the design intent.
“When we kicked our project off with T.M. Lewin we knew that this was a brand who took their heritage, brand, and customer experience seriously. We had an opportunity to bring our expertise to this build and deliver something which would wow our client, and their customers,” said Lydon.
“Even though online shopping is popular I strongly believe that consumers still want to feel, touch, and smell the experience of walking into their favourite brand’s retail space.”
European Oak and stainless steel was used throughout the store in all of the joinery and fixturing, alongside sandstone floor detailing, and glazed brick tiles at the shopfront.
Crispin Fyans, global head of store development at T.M. Lewin said the materials were chosen to convey traditional craftsmanship while also pointing towards the contemporary style of the offer.
“Creating a space for our customers that made them feel invited and part of our brand was paramount when we engaged with Brodon for our fitout,” said Evans.
“Brodon’s involvement has not only allowed us to faithfully reproduce our UK standards but in many cases has helped us improve our own systems.
“The presentation of wall lined oak fixturing enhances the presentation of the range, styles, and colour of the fabrics,” he said.
Broden has revamped five Australian stores for T.M. Lewin over the past two years, and will continue rolling out more stores into 2016.
