Group managing director Mary Devine will step down from her position, and revert to a non-executive director role.
“Her mandate to further develop the executive team and deliver on strategic initiatives has been a key enabler in making [these] appointments,” the business said.
Boardriders names new CEO
Sports and lifestyle apparel company Boardriders Inc. has appointed Arne Arens as its new chief executive officer effective March 1. He will replace Dave Tanner, who will stay on the company’s board of directors.
Arens, who hails from the Netherlands and spent the past ten years at VF Corporation where he held the role as the global brand president of The North Face, said he is thrilled to be joining Boardriders, not only for the opportunity to lead its portfolio of world-class brands in the next phase of growth, but also to work with its amazing and talented global team.
“As a former athlete and avid boardrider myself, I appreciate the passionate communities, culture, and lifestyle our brands represent,” Arens said. “And as an experienced action sports executive, I know this industry, its people, and markets and am certain the best is yet to come for our brands. Before joining VF, Arens spent eight years at Nike where he held several marketing and commercial roles and led the company’s football business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland during a period of rapid growth.
Outgoing CEO Tanner led the restructuring and turnaround of Boardriders’ surf apparel brand Quiksilver Inc beginning in 2015. He also led the 2018 acquisition of Billabong International Ltd.
Boardriders produces and distributes branded apparel, footwear and accessories under the Quiksilver, Billabong, ROXY, DC Shoes, RVCA, Element and VonZipper brands.
Icebreaker gets new global brand president
Icebreaker is getting a new global brand president, the brand’s parent company VF Corporation announced.
The company appointed Jan Van Mossevelde to the role, succeeding Greg Smith. He will be based in the brand’s home market of Auckland, New Zealand.
Van Mossevelde, who served as Icebreaker’s vice president and general manager for EMEA since 2019, will report to VF Corporation’s president for the EMEA region Martino Scabbia Guerrini.
Guerrini said Van Mossevelde’s deep knowledge of the brand and the VF enterprise has enabled him to successfully guide the brand’s vision and operations across Europe since its acquisition in 2017.
“Jan is a proven leader with a strong track record in the areas of innovation, brand strategy and international marketing, making him the ideal person to lead the Icebreaker brand on a global basis.”
Van Mossevelde, who joined VF Corporation in 2015, previously held leadership roles at FMCG giant Procter & Gamble for 15 years.
