Woolworths has partnered with food-tech company Tiliter to launch new price integration scales at four Scan&Go stores in Sydney.
The new technology – which Woolworths says is a world first – will show the exact price of loose fruits and vegetables as well as their corresponding weight helping customers budget and plan their purchase beforehand.
Woolworths’ head of business solutions for customer, retail and emerging concepts, Sailesh Shankar, said the retailer wants to provide a solution and accommodate consumers shopping within a budget.
“We’ll continue to listen closely to customer and team member feedback on the entire project over the coming months.”
The retailer has already begun replacing its analogue scales with digital alternatives at 300 stores since the middle of this year.
Tiliter CEO, Marcel Herz, said the new innovative technology brings the “future of retail” to everyone.
“Australian shoppers now have the opportunity to track their spending across fresh produce while they shop, making it easier for them to cross-reference the price with their budget.”
Customers at Woolworths Crows Nest, Double Bay, Metro Park Sydney and Norwest will be the first to try the price integration scales.
