Perth Airport is unlocking significant new retail potential within its Terminals 3 and 4(T3/T4), launching a call for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for up to 13 prime sites.

This initiative signals a strategic refresh of the retail offering, presenting opportunities for dynamic brands across food and beverage, news and books, and various specialty categories.

While the long-term vision includes new terminal facilities at Airport Central slated for 2031, Perth Airport is firmly investing in the now. This refurbishment underscores a commitment to enhancing the customer journey within the existing T3/T4 infrastructure, ensuring these terminals continue to operate as a high-performing retail precinct.

A high-traffic hub with engaged customers

For retailers, the airport environment offers unparalleled advantages. Perth Airport connects brands with millions of passengers annually – a diverse demographic mix encompassing business travellers, tourists, and FIFO workers. This consistent, high-volume foot traffic, coupled with passenger dwell, is a unique feature of airport retail. Waiting passengers translate into browsing customers, creating significantly more opportunities for engagement and sales compared to traditional high street locations.

This opportunity is ready for both established international players looking to capture the West Australian market and innovative local operators seeking a high-profile platform.

Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s chief commercial and aviation officer, emphasised: “As part of our ongoing commitment to optimise the customer experience… we are embarking on a refurbishment and refresh of the retail offering within our T3/T4 infrastructure… [We] are committed to upgrading the current T3/T4 terminals to ensure we are catering for passengers in the interim.”

Diverse opportunities beckon

Perth Airport is seeking partners across a broad spectrum of sectors, including compelling food and beverage concepts, essential travel retail including news, books and magazines, and a wide array of specialty stores. The call invites retailers specialising in gifts, fashion, beauty, apparel, kids’ ranges, athleisure, and accessories, reflecting the diverse needs and desires of the modern traveller.

Operating within Perth Airport offers retailers access to a ‘captive’ audience, often looking for convenience, last-minute purchases, or ways to enhance their travel experience. This unique setting fosters both planned purchases and significant impulse buying potential.

“Retailers are invited to explore the opportunities available at Perth Airport by connecting to the millions of passengers that travel through our terminals each year,” Holsgrove added. “Our commercial team is looking to engage with potential partners via a request for proposals program for up to 13 sites across T3 and T4.”

For brands seeking high visibility, diverse customer demographics, and extended engagement periods, Perth Airport’s latest EOI presents a compelling proposition.
