Athletic apparel retailer Lululemon Athletica has announced its first-ever footwear collection.
The brand has introduced four new women’s styles: Chargefeel, Strongfeel and Restfeel, along with its first running shoe, Blissfeel. All will be available from March 22 in selected stores across North America, Mainland China and the UK.
Lululemon CEO Calvin McDonald said footwear was the natural ‘next step’ for the company to expand and apply its history of innovation as a brand.
“We are entering the footwear category the same way we built our apparel business – with products designed to solve unmet needs, made for women first.”
Sun Choe, Lululemon’s chief product officer, said innovating for women is in the Canadian company’s DNA. “Now we’re bringing that expertise to footwear, and women were part of this journey every step of the way.”
Each shoe is designed to provide a ‘specific feeling’ based on its materials, foam compounds, construction method, cushioning and colours. The brand will also roll out a men’s collection next year.
