Mecca has called time on its 17-year partnership with department store Myer as the brand looks to develop its own “larger-format standalone stores”.
After opening the world’s largest beauty store in Bourke Street, Melbourne, Mecca is looking to build on its standalone store success.
“This is a natural next step as Mecca continues to invest in our larger-format standalone stores, where we can offer our full brand line-up, immersive services like beauty labs, and new experiences all under one roof,” a company spokesperson said.
“As part of this evolution, we [have] gradually started closing our Mecca Myer locations in late 2025 and will finish this process in late 2026.”
The brand added that it will leave all Myer stores by September.
Mecca operates three store types: Cosmetica, Maxima, and Mecca. Each one houses different brands, with the company describing its Maxima stores as the “ultimate playground for any beauty lover”. In 2025, the company had more than 110 stores in its portfolio across Australia and New Zealand, employing more than 7000 people.
