Cole Haan launches Keith Haring collection

Footwear label Cole Haan has unveiled a new capsule collection paying homage and reverence to pop artist, the late Keith Haring.

The Cole Haan x Keith Haring collection boasts four pairs of shoes that feature original designs from the brand’s best-selling OriginalGrand and GrandPro Rally styles.

David Maddocks, Cole Haan’s brand president, described Haring as a “trailblazer” who used his platform for social activism.

“Keith Haring’s legacy of working for what he believed in is not only intrinsic to our mission here at Cole Haan but has also empowered generations of his fans to follow suit in their own endeavours.”

Haring was popular for his white chalk drawings on vacant advertising panels on NYC subways. He also produced a number of sculptures, murals and paintings to benefit various children’s and Aids charities during the 1980s.

Gil Vazquez, executive director of the Keith Haring Studio, said: “The artworks really pop on the shoe styles in a way that makes them instant classics, and a great vehicle to help spread Keith’s empowering, positive message.”

The new collection is unisex and features OriginalGrand Wingtip, GrandPro Rally Court Sneaker and GrandPro Rally Slip-On. They are sold from Cole Haan’s website and are available from Thursday.
