Watch the box to shop

Glue Store twitter tv show shopreplyGlue Store is using TV hosts and Twitter to sell fashion to shoppers from the comfort of their living room.

The chain has teamed up with technology platform, ShopReply, to allow television audiences to instantly purchase what they see on screen.

The technology is being implemented to sell items worn by the hosts of Channel 11 lifestyle show, The Loop.

It works by flashing up messages on screen, such as “buy Scott’s look instantly”, when the hosts are on screen.

Viewers are directed to tweet @shopTHELOOP along with their chosen host’s name, and wait for a reply to purchase.

Glue is working with The Loop’s stylists to ensure items worn by hosts can be immediately purchased online and shipped to viewers.

Prue Thomas, group marketing director of Next Athleisure, which owns Glue, says the new platform extends the chain’s business past e-commerce or bricks and mortar.

“The technology means we can capture the intent of a large and engaged audience and enable them to finalise their transaction in an instant,” said Thomas.

As reported in Inside Shopper last week, international coffee giant, Starbucks, has also been using Twitter to attract new types of shoppers.

The coffee chain has introduced an online payment option that allows shoppers to tweet a coffee to friends, family, or even celebrities.

Tweet-a-Coffee launched last month, with US citizens able to send US$5 Starbucks gift cards via Twitter.
