Three alleged thieves have been caught while trying to steal a car after a bungled robbery in central Sydney. 
Officers found the men in a basement car park on George Street after an hour-long search in the early hours of Thursday morning, police say.
According to local media reports, the theives had tried to steal “quite a quantity” of handbags from the Louis Vuitton flagship in Sydney. But the men – aged 32, 19 and 18 – tripped several alarms while trying to break in.
When police surrounded the building, the men allegedly tried to steal a car to escape, but were caught in the building’s car park.
A stolen Audi was also found outside the store. Inquiries into the attempted robbery continue and the men are speaking to police.
All stolen items had been recovered, the police spokesman said.
