Woman shot dead at Hungry Jacks

A young woman killed by police gunfire outside a fast food outlet in Sydney looked “possessed”, witnesses say.

Several triple 0 calls were made on Tuesday morning after the 22 year old woman was spotted carrying a large knife and wandering around the Hungry Jack’s carpark at West Hoxton.

Witness, Anabelle C’Eladoure, said she called police after noticing the woman’s strange behaviour.

“She was very out of it, she didn’t seem to know where she was.”

“As soon as I noticed the strange behaviour and the large knife I jumped back in my car and locked the door. I made sure my son was safe,” C’Eladoure told Network Seven.

“She looked very strange, her behaviour, her mannerisms didn’t strike me as normal.

“I did suspect that she could be on drugs or mentally unstable, which is the reason why I called police straight away.”

Other witnesses say the woman “looked possessed and like a zombie”, according to News Corp.

Police tried to subdue her with capsicum spray, which reportedly didn’t work because she was wearing sunglasses.

There are reports a taser was then used, but police won’t confirm if one was deployed.

Seconds after rushing at police the woman was shot in the chest by a constable and died at the scene.

The woman’s mother, a teacher’s aid at a nearby school, collapsed when she was told of her daughter’s death, Network Seven reported.

C’Eladoure said once the police arrived “it all happened really, really fast”.

“They used capsicum spray, a taser I think, then they shot her once.

“It was really, really shocking,” said C’Eladoure.

Assistant Commissioner, Frank Mennilli, said the two police officers involved were distraught and an internal investigation was underway.
