Sportscraft has been selected as the Official Supplier of Opening Ceremony and formal uniforms to the 2016 Australian Olympic Team for the 7th time.
The design process is currently underway, with the official uniform expected to be revealed in mid 2016, and worn by the 2016 Australian Olympic Team for the first time at the Opening Ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on August 5, 2016.
Kitty Chiller, chef de mission, 2016 Australian Olympic Team said the opening ceremony uniform designed by Sportscraft for London 2012 had a positive impact on athletes.
“I know the team will be enormously proud to wear the uniforms they design for Rio,” said Chiller.
“It is vital our athletes are involved in the design of the uniforms that our team wear at an Olympic Games and Sportscraft come to this partnership embracing that concept. It is a process that worked well for London 2012 and continues to work well for Rio 2016.”
Adrian Jones, CEO APG & Co. (formerly Apparel Group) said it is an enormous pride and great honour to once again partner as the Official Supplier of Opening Ceremony and Formal Uniforms to the 2016 Australian Olympic Team.
“What can be more Australian than collaborating and drawing on our heritage to design and outfit the Australian Olympic Team?” Jones said.
The announcement comes as Sportscraft celebrates 100 years in the Australian fashion business.
