Seminars focus on multi-channel change

The Australian Centre for Retail Studies will host the 2011 Multi-channel and Social Media briefing – an update to the findings from last year’s ACRS Retail Thought Leadership (RTL) project, which focused on multi-channel retailing in the Australian landscape.

Beginning in Melbourne on September 1, the ACRS and the strategic development team from Salmat will also visit Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney to discuss best global practice and offer strategic advice for retailers.

The ACRS’ Dr Sean Sands will present an update on the major findings from the 2010 Retail Thought Leadership project as they have progressed in the past 12 months. In particular, year on year changes will be tracked in terms of the value consumers place on different channels (including new and emerging channels, such as social media and mobile).

Jason Pallant, also of the ACRS will focus on the Research Online Purchase Offline (ROPO) research stream, a prominent topic for retailers in recent times. He will present a segmentation of Australian consumers based on their pre-purchase information search behaviours, leading to an expansion of the ROPO stream to encompass Research Multichannel Purchase Offline (RMPO) behaviours.

The strategic development team from Salmat will round off the research findings with a discussion on how the insights can be incorporated into retail strategy, incorporating real life retail strategies and ‘best practice’ references from Australia and abroad.

The events will run from 8am to 10am in Melbourne on September 1; Adelaide, September 5; Brisbane, September 6; and Sydney, September 7 at the following venues:

Melbourne – Monash University, Room H116, Ground Floor, Building H, Caulfield Campus
Adelaide – The Sebel Playford, 120 North Terrace, Adelaide
Brisbane – Brisbane Riverview Hotel, Cnr Kingsford Smith Drive & Hunt Street, Hamilton
Sydney – The Mercure, 820 George Street, Sydney
