The index gives a quick overview of retail statistics in four key categories; fashion and accessories, furniture and homewares, sporting and recreational, and other.

Retail sales growth has taken a significant downturn from the previous week, recording a negative figure of 12.69 per cent overall. All retail sectors fell into negative growth territory, with fashion and accessories being the hardest hit at 19.09 per cent down on the previous week.
Furniture and homewares continued its negative run with a drop in sales growth of 12.15 per cent, which is on the back of the previous weeks drop of 19.78 per cent. This sector hasn’t experienced this level of negative performance since July 2015.
The index saw similar results in the same week of 2014, where overall retail sales dropped by 10.19 per cent.
