Perth iconic tower to start redevelopment in 2017

Perth QV1Perth’s iconic QV1 tower’s major redevelopment is due to start in January 2017 after recently winning approval from the City of Perth development assessment panel.

The redevelopment will see two new mixed-use towers built with high-end facilities for tenancies and the tower’s plaza area transformed to become a public plaza. A living mural garden bed is set to be placed at the heart of the plaza to complement Harry Seidler’s existing architectural work as the retail plaza is also revamped.

The third Mary Street Bakery is the first retail tenant to commit to the project, followed by a unique ‘eating house and bar’ style restaurant set to open later this year.

Co-owned by Investa Commercial Property Fund and Eureka Funds Management, the tower’s transformation will also provide tenants with new state-of-the-art amenities and dynamic shared spaces to create an urban community environment.

Tom Simurina, Investa Office, Perth and Sydney Portfolio general manager, said the co-owners are committed to ensuring the lifestyle facilities on offer matched up to the premium status of the QV1 building.

“Our goal is to create an upmarket, lively precinct that celebrates Perth’s foodie culture and gives tenants, office workers and visitors a place to relax and enjoy with friends,” Simurina said.

“We are hoping the redevelopment will be a welcome addition to the evolving food and drink scene in the city, providing more opportunities for boutique food and beverage retailers and diversity for people visiting the city.”

The redevelopment will also involve the creation of a best in class premium end of trip facility for the office tenants of QV1, in addition to a childcare centre on the podium level.

“Embarking on this major development is an exciting time for QV1 which will see it cemented as Perth’s pre-eminent office address,” said Tanya Lambert, asset manager at Eureka Funds Management.
