New head for eBay Australia

EBay Australia’s current leader and vice president, Deborah Sharkey, will leave the position to move to eBay’s global headquarters in San Jose in the US.

Vice president and leader of eBay’s Korea businesses, Jooman Park, will lead eBay Australia and New Zealand from July. Park joined eBay Korea’s subsidiary Internet Auction Company (IAC) in 2002 and has led eBay Korea for eight years, helping to grow IAC and GMarket into Korea’s leading online marketplaces. Sharkey joined eBay’s Sydney team in October 2003 and has headed up eBay Australia and NZ since December 2008.

“I’ve enjoyed four great years at the helm of eBay Australia and NZ,” Sharkey said.

“Having worked almost my entire professional life in Australia and Japan, I am particularly excited about returning to the US to continue to work for eBay.” Senior VP and GM, eBay Asia, Jay Lee, said of the changes:

“Deborah’s leadership has enhanced eBay’s reputation as a great partner for businesses of all sizes and a favourite shopping destination for millions of Australians. Deborah’s agility, results-focus and inexhaustible energy for eBay will continue to serve the company well in the USA. “Jooman will build on the excellent progress the team is making in defining the new Australian retail landscape,” said Lee.

“By successfully partnering with businesses and establishing online retail standards in Korea, Jooman has driven eBay’s Korea businesses to market leadership positions. This experience will help boost Australian e-commerce for the benefit of local businesses and consumers.”
