Myer to sponsor Katy Perry’s tour Down Under

Myer-Richard-Umbers-Katy-PerryDepartment store retailer, Myer, is sponsoring pop star Katy Perry’s Australian tour as principal and naming rights partner.

Perry will perform in Australian capital cities in July and August 2018, Myer chief executive Richard Umbers announced in Sydney on Friday. Fans queued from 3am to catch a glimpse of Perry, who took to the Myer stage wearing an electric blue leather dress with matching nail polish and eyeshadow, while sporting her new bleached blonde pixie haircut.

“This will be a truly unique experience for our customers,” said Umbers.

“What better way to create lasting memories than to give our customers the opportunity to be there in person at one of Katy Perry’s incredible concerts. This really is bringing the love of shopping to life.”

“Katy is one of the most exciting and engaging pop stars on the planet and we are so thrilled to be partnering with her to create something really special for our Myer customers.”

Via its customer loyalty program, the Myer will give away 8000 tickets to Perry’s Australian shows, ahead of next year’s tour.

The announcement coincided Myer’s share price falling more than two per cent to 0.84 cents in early Friday trading after UBS cut its FY18 earnings-per-share (EPS) forecast for the department store by 17 per cent, moving its recommendation from neutral to sell.
